The Industry’s Hidden Treasure – Conformation Classes and Coaching

Am Session

There is a huge area of dog training business that is not being utilized by most dog trainers and that is working with show dogs. So many people don’t take on show dog clients because they don’t feel they have enough experience, but there is a lot that skilled positive reinforcement trainers have to offer and this workshop will help them put the pieces together to offer conformation classes. Since the release of her first book in 2007, Vicki has created many successful techniques for training and perfecting show ring behaviors and walked the line between being a successful positive reinforcement trainer and being an owner/handler/breeder in the show ring. She has coached many longtime breeders, breed enthusiasts and professional handlers to teach them new ways to approach show dog training and problem solving.

What you will learn:

  • How to work with show dogs in your basic classes
  • How to build a conformation/handling class curriculum
  • An overview of what show dogs need to know
  • Dealing with show dog extended families (breeders, co-owners, handlers)
  • Different types of conformation classes
PM Session with Niki Tudge

This is a short, fun and eye opening session geared for all levels. Make the best of your time, enjoy what you do and see results in the ring. During  this session you will learn:
  • How to break teaching tasks down into lesson plans, lessons and session.
  • How to structure your sessions so the learner, human or pet can best assimilate the new skills and knowledge
  • How to train-test-test so you are sure that your learning has grasped the concepts and information and is able to demonstrate them
  • How to use feedback loops to ensure your student completed the experiential learning cycle, critical to performance competence
  • How to get the best from your student in a happy and productive manner!
