About Your Presenter Joan Hunter Mayer Joan Hunter Mayer’s journey from owner of a successful dog training business, The Inquisitive Canine, to inventor and entrepreneur has been fueled by her passion to create a cultural shift that enhances the human-canine bond. Inspired by her own dogs and working with a team of professional designers, engineers and artisans, Joan launched TransPaw Gear and the Happy Harness. This unique harness has been developed exclusively for the Love of Dogs and specially designed to support humane, force-free interactions that harness happiness and unleash fun. Hunter Mayer understands the challenges that both humans and dogs face in everyday life. Her extensive learning in animal training and behavior, has led to multiple certifications, including CBCC-KA and CPDT-KA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and The Academy for Dog Trainers certificate in training and counseling. She is also a certified canine nose work instructor via the National Association of Canine Scent Work and a certified separation anxiety trainer. In addition to 15+ years working hands on with dogs and their human parents, her unique educational background also includes fashion (she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and spent 14 years in costuming for film and TV), nursing (studied at Ventura College and Stanford Medical School in California), and business (earned an MBA from Antioch University). This combination of art and science infused with caring and creativity is what Hunter Mayer brings to her work as an advocate to empower dogs and the people who love them.
