Webinar Description

Many urban clients have active dogs: Husky mixes, Australian Shepherds, and athletic Pitbull types… with limited access to off-leash areas. How can we make the time spent on a 6-foot leash as interesting, stimulating, and pleasant as possible?
Zuzanna is excited and feels privileged to share what resulted from her many attempts to reconcile safety and leash laws with a positive walking relationship in cities and busy suburbs.

During this webinar, Zuzanna will reveal how to vagabond on a 6-foot leash with a dog, as inspired by working with furry friends whose past was feral.
The exercises and techniques you will be shown were developed for stray-roaming free dogs adopted into busy cities. Teaching them to adapt to leash walking was critical, but it was also important that they maintained a high quality of life.
Thousands of dog guardians have successfully tried this training approach. So many dogs we come across need to spend time on a leash with their humans, and it is vital they enjoy this time together.

The webinar will also touch on elements needed to help train past street and/or free-roaming dogs. But don’t overlook that all of this information is pertinent and can be applied to any dogs who spend time on leash walks, large or small. Several concepts we will share also apply to walking on a leash for other species, such as pet pigs, cats, goats, etc.

Learning objectives:

  • Dog guardians  interested in efficient techniques to teach a comfortable leash walk free from pulling.
  • This education will benefit canine professionals working with clients who walk their dogs on leashes.

Your Presenter – Zuzanna (Zuzia) Kubica

Zuzanna(Zuzia) Kubica CDBC created CoeurCanin over 20 years ago and has never looked back, working in dog behaviour more than full-time since. Born in Poland, travelling a few countries before finally immigrating to Montreal, Canada, Zuzanna has spent a childhood befriending street dogs, feral cats, horses, squirrels, raccoons and any creature possible. No one was very surprised when, after university, her career ‘went to the dogs’. She works with any dog behaviour situation from puppies still with mom to senior behaviour challenges, passing by the crazy teenagers, aggression and anxiety cases, cooperation training for grooming and veterinary care, blind and/or deaf dogs, not normally raised individuals or just regular pooches needing a bit of training.

Zuzanna has a soft spot for past street, feral, and free-roaming dogs and those suffering from reactivity. Zuzanna feels privileged to clicker train many species at wildlife sanctuaries, farms, and pretty much any animal met who opts for a clicker conversation.

Zuzanna has been a PPG member since its beginnings in 2012. She is also a Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant at the IAABC. Locally, she is a past vice-president and co-founder of the RQIEC and the author of a complete memoir for the provincial government on protecting the public from dangerous dogs.

Zuzanna currently shares her life with Mishtamek, a young Shiba Inu, Panthere, an elderly clicker-trained cat, and her husband, who is very supportive of anything related to animals. Except for Panthere, the family’s favorite free time is spent on nature road trips and wildlife watching as often as possible.
