Your Webinar Description:

Just like humans, age brings about changes in dogs. Many of those changes are physical but affect emotional states and behavior too. Others – such as changes in attachment to family – are more subtle but can cause as much insecurity, if not more, as physical changes. Yet others, such as becoming less capable of coping with stressful situations, go undetected by the human eye but can lead to elderly dogs feeling vulnerable and more reliant on the human family for guidance and support.

In this webinar, we’ll explore how increasingly important it becomes for us to adapt the environment to elderly dogs as they become less able to adapt to the environment. We’ll also cover how age-related decline can lead to anxiety and what we can do to help and support them while navigating the final years of their lives.

What we’ll cover:

• Common age-related changes – physical, emotional and social changes
• Sensory loss and anxiety
• Low capacity to handle stress and cope with routine changes
• Adaptations in the environment that may ease anxiety
• Practical ways to help and support the elderly dog
• Cognitive dysfunction and anxiety

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will have gained a deeper insight into how elderly dogs’ perception of the world changes. This insight will change how they care for a dog who has grown old with their family.

They will know how to:

• Minimize physical discomfort
• Make elderly dogs feel safer in an increasingly scary world
• Support and protect them when dealing with sensory loss
• Avoid or manage potentially stressful situations
• Recognize canine cognitive dysfunction-related changes that most contribute to anxiety.
