Your Webinar Description:

Adopted dogs arrive with a history of experiences, often carrying stress and sensitivities. Their behaviors often reflect the environments they’ve lived in.  As trainers, understanding these stress patterns allows us to guide both dogs and their families toward a calmer and successful adjustment. In this webinar, we will explore how to recognize and reduce stress in adopted dogs, identify common behavioral challenges based on their backgrounds, and provide actionable strategies to help them and their new families thrive together.

What we’ll cover:

  • How stress impacts behavior.
  • Common behavioral challenges in dogs rescued from streets, crowded shelters, and abusive or neglectful homes.
  • Mistakes guardians may unintentionally make that increase stress.
  • Strategies to help dogs adjust smoothly while supporting their new family

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how stress responses, trigger stacking, and recovery time influence adopted dogs’ behavior.
  • Identify common mistakes guardians make with adopted dogs and demonstrate how to correct them using supportive, positive communication.
  • Apply a gradual, step-by-step approach to help them adjust smoothly to their new home and family.
  • Recognize and address common behavioral challenges adopted dogs may present.
  • Implement strategies to support the new family throughout the adjustment process.
