PPG Members. Join us for this informal meeting with the Inclusivity Division. Our guest speaker is Annie Phenix from the Phenix Advocacy Center.
As trainers, we take course after course to improve our dog and owner communication skills - but how often do you set aside time to take courses that are just for our own healing and well being? How often do we have time just for ourselves? Do we even have hobbies or is there no time for that?
Our jobs are quite difficult and can be emotionally exhausting, in spite of what others may perceive a just “playing with puppies all day.” The burn out rate in the industry is through the roof and many terrific and talented trainers leave the field after just two years. Some days it can feel stress-inducing events such as social media wars are out to get us.
How do you deal with this heavy load? Most trainer say they feel isolated. This is why a group of R+ trainers came together to create the Phenix Advocacy Center for R+ Canine Professionals (PAC) in 2023. We are a nonprofit, safe space that exists just for you. We have taken specialized training to learn empathetic listening and how to show up for each other. Hear from PAC Founder Annie Phenix on how this group is helping canine pros feel connected and less stressed on a daily bases.
Divisional meetups are informal, members-only gatherings hosted by individual divisions. They feature guest speakers and provide PPG members opportunities to meet, chat, and learn about specific topics pertinent to that division. Meetups are held via Zoom, which enables the use of Closed Captioning and provides access for members who prefer not to be on Facebook. The events are recorded for members to watch after the fact.
